Belatedly avoiding posting some shots on Alaska's topic "Alaska/Czech Republic: statues encore" in which Jay Pat requested a view of a Sherman Tank that came up in the course of conversation there, here we go. I did catch myself and remove the photos. The pictures were taken under "combat conditions" so don't expect exacting photography. I'm also adding some other shots taken during the same event in the Combat Zone of the National Museum of the Pacific War, in Fredericksburg Texas.
During the battle portion of the event, someone popped smoke and nearly obscured the whole proceeding. I liked it, but alas the decision was to not use smoke again.

Thanks Bobber for posting these.
I have never attended one of these. I don't know how often they do this.
I'm over there often. I need to find a schedule for this year.
I did find a web site for the tank restoration.
Lots and lots of images with narration with each image. If anyone is interested, I'll go back and find the link.
With Bobbers permission.

Sure, I ain't jealous. The more the merrier.
Just Google up Nimetz Museum, allthough that is'nt the name, good enough, and shorter. They will have a calander on their web site. The first one this year is next month. Skipping April. May will be a biggie. Shows run through November, but not every month. They try to catch the big holidays. A scheduling snafu screwed April this year.

Bobber,
Does the tank stay at the annex all the time?

The Stewart does. I don't think we will be seeing the Sherman any more. There are two Japanese tanks there too.
There is also a PT boat and a plane that could loose bombs or torpedoes. George Bush senior flew one.
The Japanese did something unusual with their tanks, fitting them with a machine gun on the rear of the turret. They were countering one of their own favorite tactics, swarming a tank with infantry and grenades, explosives, or flaming fuel from the rear. I don't know how practical it was. Americans usually took care of Japanese tanks with other methods.
