This is actually kind of ironic. The song is song titled, "A time to say goodbye". Still, it is a very pretty song.

It is a beautiful tune. I read the comment about the irony of the original song used for the purpose of a wedding. A similar thing happened with Leonard Cohen's "Dance Me to the End of Love," which has beautiful music and words, words originally inspired by the musicians who played for Auschwitz prisoners on their way to the gas chambers. But Cohen's words are so poetic that, if one didn't know the origin, one could think it was a love song.

I don't think it is a big stretch to say it can express the thoughts of the bride and/or groom at saying "farewell" to their families/childhood as they form a new union.
