lens Adapter problem

I have a Sony A55 and a Vivitar Lens C/FD type mount.
I ordered a Fotodiox FD-MA Adapter but it will not fit the Vivitar.
The Tab that moves the aperture, I think, is too long.

Is my lens too old or do I just have the wrong adapter?

Vivitar 35-105MM 1:3.2-4 MC Macro Focusing Zoom NO.77443686

Thank you in advance.

If you can send the adapter back. The lens isn't going to work right on the A55 even if you find an adapter that fits.
you are not going to be able to focus to infinity. Good used lens in this range can be found on ebay for great prices that will fit the A55 without an adapter.
If you look at a sigma lens, first check out there web site some of there lens have a tab to long to work on the A55 unless they do a hardware update for you.Tamron AF lens and all minolta AF lens work on A55.

Thank you for your reply. I was going to try Macro with this lens. I am trying to get into it inexpensively. But I also want to be frugal. Would infinity focus be a requirement for Macro? Also, I was thinking of reducing the tab length myself so that it would not interfere with the adapter in my possession. I did send for a Return Authorization from the seller.

might work for macro not sure.
you can try to shorten the tab, what's it going to harm,
so it will not work with the old camera, do you really care.
Do what I did when I first started out. Go to a goodwill
store you may have to call several in your area, but some of them keep lens.
I got my first minolta lens 55mm 1:1.7 there for $20.00 and it still works great.

Yes, I got this one at Goodwill, $19.99. Not sure if I should bend it or cut the extra tab length off. If it bends easy I will just work harden it, till it breaks, I guess. Thank you for your reply.

SUCCESS! Fortunately, I was not aggressive. I first adjusted, like I really did not bend it, the Tab almost a non-measurable amount towards the center of the lens. The Adapter went on perfectly! At the Goodwill Store it may have been abused a bit but otherwise it looks brand new. Although, I can not figure out the alignment Red Dots yet. They do not seem to line up with each other. No directions came with the Adapter. Just waiting for my O-Flash to arrive now. Gene, thank you for your help.
