Hello fellow Hogs. A friends needs to go light weight with a camera. He's looking for a small Point & Shoot that has an eyelevel viewfinder. The Canon G-16 is a possibility but I know there has to be others out there. Any Ideas? $500.00 in the high end limit. Appreciate your help, J. Goffe

Keep clicking on the MORE link at the bottom ---

Once you find a couple that you're interested in, you can then compare with other retailers for deals...

Or compare here: http://snapsort.com/compare

Good luck.

So amazing at how so many ignore specific wording in the original post when creating their replies!

I have a Sony DSC-H400 available for $250.00 including shipping. I'm upgrading to the DSC-HX400 and need to dispense with the H400. Purchased it earlier this year from Best Buy. I'll include an extra battery, 16gig SD card, the charger, & software that came with it. I don't have the box. You can check the specs at: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1029525-REG/sony_dsc_h400_b_dsc_h400_digital_camera.html

It's a great camera but, I need a few capabilities that it doesn't offer like recording in RAW format.

Maybe I'm just reading this wrong but don't all cameras have an "eyelevel" viewfinder? Every time I look through any of my viewfinders they are all right in front of my eye.

Some have "viewfinders" along with the "LCD" screen, but most in the P&S category do NOT have viewfinders.

Generally it is just the top-of-the-line P&S cameras that have 'viewfinders' and even in the 'bridge' category there are many without the viewfinders! I have the Canon SX40 & SX50 and don't often use the viewfinder, HOWEVER I would NOT want a camera without...... Except a quick-click 'belt pouch' or 'pocket' camera for true grab shots.

I use the SX50 viewfinder more than the LCD. The LCD is impossible in bright daylight. My SX50 is my quick-click carry around camera.

I do agree with you that it is best to have a viewfinder available.

I have very rarely had a problem with the LCD in bright sun with my SX50, there is always an angle available with the articulating screen to be able to eliminate most, if not all, of the glare.
