I am ready to purchase a new DSLR and am considering this source. I have seen warnings on this forum to be aware of certain sources that were "come-ons". 42nd st has a very good price on the D7100. Are they reputable? Thanks for any advice from those who have delt with them.

If you will search 42nd. Street Photo above you will find that the majority do not recommend purchasing equipment there for many reasons. There are few deals better than B&H and Adorama, if any. I personally use B&H and I have not had any experience with the highly recommended Adorama. Sometimes, many actually, a good deal perceived is not a good deal at all.

They are not an "Authorized Nikon Dealer" - if so, they would proudly display the Logo -

These sites are popular with the members:
B&H: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/
Adorama: http://www.adorama.com/
Cameta: http://www.cameta.com/
KEH: http://www.keh.com/

It is recommended to stay away from gray market items (non-USA) -
Here is a decent article by Nikon on gray market:
http://nikonrumors.com/2014/07/08/nikon-d800e-for-2399-99-on-ebay.aspx/

I compare all 4, check what's in the box, what rebates are available and what extra's they toss in -

I generally end up buying refurbished from Cameta and have been extremely happy with the items.

You might want to check out Cameta Camera. They usually have good prices on refurbished Nikon DSLRs. I have neveer had any problems with any refurbished items I have bought from them.

I wouldn't deal with 42nd street, period. I vote with the others about B&H and Adorama and have dealt with both. Top Notch! KEH and Cameta both also have good reputations. B&H and Adorama are both currently closed for the Jewish Holy Days, so, if you are in a hurry, you may want to look elsewhere. If you can, I'd wait for B&H/Adorama on the 19th!

I bought a camera from Cameta Camera simply because they advertised a one year warranty. I used it and there were questions. They did exactly as advertised. I have dealt repeatedly with them and always top notch service and prices and warranty

I've been dealing with B&H, Adorama, and keh.com for a very long time, and I have only had good experiences with them. Any price significantly lower than theirs should be viewed with suspicion.

NIKON USA is a dealership brand and the prices and allowable discounts for new equipment are set by Nikon. Any retail agent selling for below suggested price without authorization from NIKON, will lose their franchise. I think MTShooter can verify this for you.

I have three words for anyone thinking of buying from 42nd St photo NO-NO-NO!

They are a scam - NY style - which means they do it with major attitude.

Read the bad reviews - ignore the good reviews, which can easily be generated by a robot or a bunch of friends paid to make them look good.
