I got a 5DmkII for a good price and although I am focused more on the photo side I've taken a few videos just playing around. Wow! The video quality is incredible and I've never seen any affordable camcorders that come close. I've subscribed to this forum so I can learn some more and if how much better of a photographer UHH has helped me to become is any indication then I may become a cinematographer. Don't really have any questions yet but I'm sure I will, just supporting the forum.

a3dtot,
If a picture is worth a thousand words, I think a video can be worth a thousands pictures. In some ways still pics and video are alike in that they can share the same equipment in the camera, lenses, settings, the same subject matter, etc. Also both can benefit from post processing, cropping, etc. But in other ways video is a separate pursuit because you are dealing with sight, sound and the passage of time. You are also asking more from the viewer than just a couple of seconds of attention.
Hope you will contribute your ideas and thoughts and at some point your videos.

This is the first time I have had a camera that was good enough to take the videos that I have always wanted to take. Now it's time to learn. I'm going to the renaissance festival this weekend with family and it will be very challenging. A lot of activity, grandkids and difficult lighting (a lot of light through trees) but I can't wait to see how it comes out. Just the few I have taken the HD is stunning so hopefully I have some success. I'm sure I'll be asking questions quite a lot.

A3dot,
Have Fun. Should be awesome, especially on the wide angle shots with the full frame sensor.
