My D800 went through 2 batteries today while taking photos in New Mexico.. Both were fully charged this morning. Has anyone else had this problem?

I cannot shoot enough images in one day to drain a battery in the D800, I have gotten over 3000 shots on one charge on many occasions. Check the "Battery Info" tab in your menus before shooting to make sure its actually fully charged. And I hope you are using genuine Nikon EN-EL 15 batteries, I have seen MANY counterfeits being passed off as genuine.

I agree with MTShooter, I could never shoot enough pics in one day. Are you shooting video?

There a lot of people smarter than me who will disagree with me, but I have found with most modern batteries (especially Li-Ion) that a moderate "deep-cycle" exercise performed once or twice a year is helpful in improving my batterys' discharge rates. I'm not saying that the batteries take a "set" like the old ni-cads. It just seems to have something to do with the length if time my batteries take to go from 100% to <50%. And by "deep-cyling" I do not mean running the battery down to 0%. I have found that 20-25% is sufficient to return the battery to its normal operating time. At the manufacturer's recommendation, I do this regularly (albeit a bit more frequently) with my iPad, iPhone any, yes, even my MacBook Pro. One slight problem whenever I do this. The battery will seldom show 100% charge on the first recharge; most stop at 99% for the first one to three cycles - and I have NO idea as to the cause. I just figured that, if it was good enough for Apple, it was good enough for me. 8-) 8-) 8-)

Not enough info, sorry. Does this only happen in New Mexico? Was the temp colder than zero (probably not)? Are the batteries older than a couple of years? Are they third party batteries? Are you using a battery grip that's not recognizing the battery charge? Are you chimping a lot or live view on all day?

How cold was it, and were you using the LCD a lot?

If you are using Live View extensively, this is to be expected.

I get thousands of photos but use Live View very little.

Never a problem at all for me, even after multiple days, 4 day weekends. I have put off buying a second one until I feel an absolute needÂ… afraid that it will become ruined from non-use!

If your batteries are in fact Nikon, check with the store you purchased them at. My wife had a similar problem and the store stated there was a recall on a specific group of defective batteries. She hasn't had a problem since. Good Luck.

No. A battery lasts me a month or more in mine. Even my off-brand one.

I hardly ever use the LCD.
