Noticed something not right on combine and this is what we found.
Shaker frame was broke in two and required some major work to get apart ( thanks to a freind and 2 fellow farmers for all their help )
2 upper screens and 1 lower had to be removed before the frame could be dislodged and removed and part of the chopper assembly had to be removed also.

Obviously this is a John Deere combine. What crop are you harvesting?
Walt
Just finished corn and were getting ready for soy beans,
yes a 9650 John Deere combine.

They're going like crazy on beans here but hasn't been much corn picked yet. Rain forecast for tomorrow so that will stop bean picking til it dries out.

Will be planting winter wheat asap, Wheat is first crop of the year cut mid may -mid june, corn follows early to mid july, then soy beans mid october depending on how early we get to plant and how weather affects the harvest .
Rain and high moisture levels in corn got us behind this year, we'd cut half a field or so and have to move to a different field due to moisture levels in corn (16 is the magic number and lower ) above 16 they won't accept ( got turned down for a 16.3)

Not a fun thing when the money maker is ready to harvest and the equipment fails. Hope you get it fixed quickly. Just drove across Kansas today. Lots of dust flying from a great number of the big combines in the fields.

I come from a farming background in the UK (many years ago now) and I recall a hay baler breaking down and some welding being required in a very awkward place to fix it. Whilst getting pretty frustrated trying to line up the parts and carry out the weld, a local farmers wife passing by remarked, "These things only break down when you are using them." I managed to stifle the reply I almost made.
How true, thanks pixby.

Good one , why else would they break if not being used .

This is one of the reasons I don't have a combine. :D
Jerry a combine is sort of like a boat, both are a big hole you throw money into, and can only use during certain times of the year weather permiting
