This was shot with 70mm 2.8 lens.
Very little light, had my iso at 3200.
Shutter around 500 or 640.
Though I would have to get closer, would a 50mm 1.4 make a significant change in light available, to allow a much lower iso ?
I am not qualified to answer your question but that is a nice action shot!

Thanks.
Image quality sucks ... need to learn how to get better in these low light conditions.
2.8 to 1.4 is one stop, so instead of shooting at 3200 you could shoot at 1600 to get the same exposure as this shot.

Thanks ... was not sure if one stop was 1.8 or 1.4.
Which camera are you shooting with? A 1.4 should lower your ISO to around 1600 with close to the same shutter speed. Once you drop below 1/800 with your shutter speed you risk hand and feet blur.

I believe 2.8 to 2.0 is 1 stop and 2.0 to 1.4 is another 1 stop. You could go to ISO 800.
