No need to add to the confusion by presenting other terms here. The question is DX/FX. It is a 'de facto' standard because it is easier to remember than the the multi APS-?
Ask any photographer in the street what is DX and FX and they will all have a answer. APS-??? And you get a blank look on their face same for the other two unless you use a canon (even then I doubt the difference is well understood).
If you want to distract from the main thread, this the way to go.
