I just had a situation where someone took my photos and edited them the way they thought it should be done..... I had already posted not to when someone else asked me to they could do it.

I want comments and suggestions, thats why I am here.. But it is inappropriate to change some ones images unless they ask you too! Also posting on some ones else,s thread your photos, should not be done unless they ask people to add to them.
Just my thoughts but I feel this is the correct way to do it

You are correct, your images should never be editted without your permission. Someone has done it to mine once and I politely told them that editting was not requested. If I'm asked before hand I usually give permission but please don't edit without asking.

As for posting your images in a someone else's thread that to is wrong, a gentle reminder is sometimes all that is needed.

Rules are only good if people take the time to read them.

Yes...people either don't know or they forget...just a reminder should be enough...:)

It's not the end of the world if someone thought that my self portrait would have been better exposed brighter...I won't shoot them...just let them know what I expect for next time.

Dear Mary,

Editing someone else's pictures without permission is quite beyond the pale.

I can't get as excited about posting your own relevant pics on someone else's thread, though: I'm not sure who invented that piece of internet 'etiquette', but it's always struck me as excessively egotistical. What's wrong with, "I had a similar problem and solved it like this"?

Cheers,

R.

I agree, "forget it." However, Mary's (very nicely made) point was that we all need to remember that editing or modifying someone's posted photos--without permission--is akin to the domineering mother-in-law telling the new bride how to cook, clean, make the beds, etc. Of course the M-I-L may (or may not!) be better at it than the new bride, but it is the new bride's house and her way rules--unless she has asked for help.

If I remember correctly, editing someone else's photo without permission here at the hog is a big no-no. There was a thread regarding this a while back.

Yeah, I guess I just forget at times there are people that don't know that....yet. ;)

Mary your point is well taken and you are correct. People's passion for photography can sometimes get them into trouble, though. It is one thing for someone to be insistent about what they did and another to make immediate amends. I hope that we can all have tolerance for the later and continue to encourage one another.

Roger sorry you feel its egotistial of me to not want other photos on my thread,my reason for this is when I first joined here it was a bit confusing, and I posted a comment in the wrong place on the WRONG photo because the addition to the thread got me confused you have to read carefully when there get to be a lot of post and replies. I offended someone by posting on the wrong place .

Yes agree with you, I post my photos for comments and suggestions, I thought thats what it was all about. I did in fact state to another that asked if he could change my photo, that I prefer they not change my image, can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink, well you can say it but if they don,t read it!!!
