I saw a teenager a few weeks ago riding his bicycle on a heavily used road near Bradley Airport. This was about lunch time and the area has a myriad of restaurants and motels on both sides. It is down right dangerous for motorists to exit these establishments at this time. There are no side walks to speak of and the shoulder in some places is only eighteen inches wide. Now picture this ... Here is this stupid kid riding his bike against the traffic. no hands, lookind down texting on his cell phone!!
Any comments?

It looks like he might in a couple of years ... if he lives that long. That is why Conn. has a very restrictive DL for young drivers.

Well we have good restrictions on young drivers in Rhode Island also, but I can tell you that according to all my family members who are first responders.....sadly 'stupid is as stupid does' still applies wether they're riding a bike or driving a car. :-(
Age is not a factor for stupidity when it comes to this subject. See it almost every time I drive. All the laws are of no use if not enforced and Connecticut is no exception.

Ct had some of the most expensive speeding tickets in the nation and a few years ago there was a move to reduce the fines because it was a hardship for those who had to pay. It was on the news. I don't recall the outcome because I was laughing for days! Just like many of the laws in this country....a big joke because of limited enforcement and the courts backing off on the penalties.
Was he wearing a helmet?
He'll figure it out that texting while riding a bike in traffic was a bad idea while he in traction at the rehability center

Many times they get dismissed when the case goes to court because the issuing Officer doesn't show up.
People like that keep me in a job. Text away young man.

While this is true,as a former police officer,I can tell you that many tickets never make it to court and if they do,charges are often reduced.
