I had a few questions about using LR, so I went to Google. I looked at a couple of videos, but they were less than helpful. Obviously, the guy knew how to do what I wanted, but he wasn't very good at telling me how to do it.

Then I went to Adobe, and watched a Julieanne Kost video - perfect.

She is the best, but unfortunately does not cover everything. These free tutorials are professional and cover most things.
Lightroom 4 tutorials Probably the best on the web and also relevant to LR5

Youtube can be very helpful at times but you are correct - adobe does have some well thought out and explained videos on their site. Julieanne Kost is very good at what she does and she does explain in terms that anyone can understand.

I, too, like Julianne Kost. I also like Jan Kabili, Chris Orwig and Terry White. I which them regularly on Lynda.com.

Yes. Excellent, but not free. I've bought several of those courses. Lynda is tops in online learning. The site has good courses, good instructors, and good organization. I keep going back for a month at a time.

These are pretty good tutorials. They're for Lightroom 4 but about the same as 5. :)

Anthony Morganti is one of my go-to guys. Free on YouTube. Small bites at the apple, goes into a good amount of show-and-tell on his workflow using his images and has a critique section using submitted images where he gets into some good detail. Highly recommended.

Also thumbs up for Julianne Kost--top drawer.

I know Lightroom must be good for something, I have been hearing about for years now; I subscribed to the Cloud finally (after denying it vehemently), but I have watched tutorials and read help articles and I still am wondering what the heck it is. So far it seems like they have changed the meaning of all the words and processes I know, like someone switched the dictionary around or something. For instance they say "Import" but then deny it is importing (your photo), your photo is still there where it was but now it is a "Catalog"...??? Oh well, it took me several years to figure out how to make "Layers" work, and now I can't live without them. Sort of like when I first got a computer, couldn't figure out how to turn it off, then found you had to click the "Start" button to access the "Stop" button.

Jerry; I have watched quite a few tutorials since I got Lightroom 5, but get more out of Terry White. Very good with his form of teaching.

In addition, I like Laura Shoe (LR Laura). She has been on Creative Live several times. Her website has quite a few free tutorials, but her DVDs, "The Fundamentals and Beyond" and "Producing Great Output" are great. They are organized in a start to finish sequence, but each lesson stands well by itself.

Julianne Kost is a great starting point and free. Scott Kelby and kelbyone have some pay for video training as does Steele and lynda.com all good. Once you learn the basics of lightroom I found Serge Ramelli, also free on youtube to provide some very interesting techniques in really making photos pop with relighting effects..
