Just thought I would start a thread to see the reaction it provokes. These ideas are not necessarily the same as my own.

Please read and try to understand what is being said before dismissing it out of hand, show how open minded you can be.

11. There's no atheist hospital in Dallas or anywhere else of which I'm aware.

Not a bad list.

But just like religions (even if by some definitions don't consider atheism one) there are radical atheists. The ones who go around harassing people on things like 10 commandment statues piss me off.

I would like to hear less dogma and more about spirituality from our Christian brethren.

As a double bass player I embrace my monkey relatives and play music with them as often as possible.

the ten commandments ARE kind of lame:

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FtfqWt9Rcz0/UKSh89IG1lI/AAAAAAAAEu0/DQipUgIgctQ/s640/10-God-Man.jpg

The first 4 sound like they were made by an insecure, vain god with low self-esteem. I don't think god really cares much about what we think and do, or needs to be worshipped.

The next 6 could be better covered by: "Treat others as you would have others treat you." ...nothing in the 10 commandments about kicking the sh*t out of someone.

Or you may say that the 6 are common sense...just all in one place. No biggie except that they're attributed to a god.

The Christians are in need more spiritual Preachers. No one can find a reference about Jesus ever dancing, singing or playing an instrument. Why would I ever pay him any mind?

Rev. Gary Davis the cigar chomping, whiskey drinking man of God. Very spiritual to me!

I agree. In the hands of some of the joke tellers on UHH, it would three times as long.

" this food is terrible and there isn't enough of it!".

That could be told very long and tedious indeed.

The last 6 commandments are the basics of any functional society throughout history.

Steve, your implication that non-believers don't care about the welfare of others is unfair. There are many, many secular hospitals and charities that do great works. These hospitals, I believe, in Dallas are not religiously affiliated.

They are not 'Atheist affiliated' either. Just because it is not affiliated with a religion does not mean it is run by an atheist organization. I am sure that a lot of Christians work at those hospitals as well as a few atheist, no doubt.
