You are 30-35 minutes from Bushkill Falls in PA - numerous water falls of various sizes. You are also 50-55 minutes from Columbia NJ where the Lakota Wolf preserve is located. Preserve hosts variety of breeds of wolf. Limited Viewing hours so go on line at hotel for more info

Thank You - Bill ;-) The Dingmans Falls road is closed for repairs = or so "says" the Forestry site here abouts... Will check it our just the same.. Sometimes they are incorrect in their planning. And Yes. I see that Bushkill Falls is on the map I have. Thank you.

Above is a link to info on Sunfish Pond. Quite scenic. Friends and I used to backpack up and camp there in the late '60's.
You can also google it for other links and info.
I second BillH's suggestions.

Dingman's Falls is part of the National Recreation Area, Bushkill Falls is private and charges a fee.

The visitors center is adjacent to the river so if you hit the center you should go down to the water to check out the view. There is another boat launch point just east a few hundred feet which might be a different view.

There is also another river access point a bit further east on I-80 where there is the exit that puts you over onto the west side of I-80 and the trailhead for the Appalacian on the NJ side.

You also have two viewpoint on the other side of the river along Route 611 in PA. You should be able to do a loop using I-80 and 611. The bad thing about the area is that it is right at the border/river and you get tolls going into PA.

If you look at google earth, you'll see all these spots. These are all at the "gap" which I'm assuming you'll at least want to see.

You might hit color - I used to go a bit later into October decades ago. We are all green down here in Philadelphia thus far.

I would try Millbrook Village (a historic site).

G.W. Child's Park is south about 8 miles and then west for a few miles. Beautiful waterfalls (numerous). And at the Gap, if your up for a drive and then a hike, you can hike either the PA side or the NJ side to the top of Minsi or Tammany for some really awsome views. Tammany, on the NJ side is an easier (shorter) hike.

My sister in law used to live in Dingmans Ferry, seems to me that bridge is closed every winter, Bob.

In Lackawaxen are the Roebling (Brooklyn Bridge guy) bridge and the Zane Grey home. The whole Upper Delaware area is lovely.

Maybe a bit too far but Rickets Glen State Park is about 2 hours west. It has 22 named falls the largest is the 94-foot Ganoga Falls.

There is a loop trail with multiple waterfalls. As there has been good rain this year, I would expect that the is good water flow. There is work on the dam up stream; I do not know the effect this has on flow.

May want to meander across the river to Frenchtown, NJ and then to Sergeantsville, NJ to shoot the last covered bridge in that state. There is a youtube video on it. Nothing fancy, but it spans the Wickecheoke creek which can make for some good shots this time of the year. Old town Frenchtown is a pretty diverse mix of quaint shops. Tons of deer in this area as well. In any case, it's a nice drive.
