PSE 10 Catalog Problem

I'm not sure this is posted in the proper forum, but here goes....

For some reason I don't understand, the Organizer's "catalog" lost the tree structure I had set up and made one huge (+/- 3000 pictures) catalog sorted by 'Newest first" with no other structure. Fortunately the structure was preserved in the "Pictures File" of Win 7 Pro.

I tried uninstalling the PSE 10 and re-installing it but somewhere it found the huge catalog file and re-imported it into the Organizer so I stopped using the organizer and just use Elements, and back up to an external HD. If I upgrade to PSE 13 or Lightroom, I'm afraid the new program will do the same thing.

Is there a way to totally delete the Organizer's Catalog and then re-import the pictures with the Tree into a new catalog?

Thanks for the help.

This may or may not help:

In PSE 11 I gave up, but in PSE 9 there is a button along the top; called "Display". Click on that and Display in Folders will bring the tree back.

I do not have PSE 10.

I also found that if the image did not have a ? mark on it, I could select them all, right click and delete from catalogue without deleting from the disc. The same applies to folders, provided none of the images have ? marks on them (denotes missing from catalogue.)

I find the Elements organiser so frustrating I gave up using it several years ago.
