I was playing around with a new lens, a Canon "Nifty Fifty" (EF 50mm, f/1.8). Very inexpensive, and feels that way, but it is certainly capable of delivering some nice shots. I wanted to see what I could do with a very narrow depth of field. I thought that, with a very narrow DOF, and some creative cropping, I could create the illusion of size.
It isn't easy getting close enough to these miniature dinosaurs, but, once in a while, you get lucky. This is fun. Perhaps my grand nieces will be suitably terrified.
Optically the "plastic fantastic" is a very nice lens, but be careful to never drop it as it will likely not be worth the effort to pick it up.

I love this image! I also admire your time and thought-process to getting the creative shot you hoped for.
