Honestly, the best way to improve is practice. Take lots of shots, take them at different settings and see what the settings are on the ones you like best.
Practice.

The use of a circular polarizing filter ( subject to where the sun is positioned at the time you took the photograph) needs to be at 90 degrees ideally. If not a graduated filter would enhance the sky, like it is in the reflection.
Just my thoughts.

[quote=hobbycam]Hobbycam. I like wate pictures like this. I believe strongly in the rule of thirds and I also like wide formats like 4 x 7. I would crop this picture and get rid of some of the sky. I am one of the few honest people on this site. Most will say "that's nice." Ha Ha David

Vince Lomardi never said "Practice makes perfect" He said "Perfect practice makes perfect." Post and click with "store original" and ask for C and C. With this download, camera specs are available for specific advise. David I see you did click it, but my advise is for others too.

[quote=hobbycam]I am going to do a re-do Hobbycam. Your histogram shows a small flat line on the dark side which will help the picture POP. You camera data looks OK. David I did the tweak and 4 x 7 that I recogmended. David

Your welcome Hobby Cam. I often can not hold back and apoligize for being so direct. I got some real great advise here and was hoping to get in discussion with others. David

What post process software do you have? I use Photoshop Elements. It's $99 or less. I like the wide format here a lot. Your histogram had no flat lines, but low on the dark left side. I pushed this in and made the picture POP. You have a great composition here. I really thank you for allowing this discussion. I with everyone would. David

Thank you for your honest critique :-)
I use PSE12 for all my PP.
I used to have Photoshop , but when they went to monthly charge
I gave up. Being on a fixed income PSE12 does all i want to do :-)
I also use a Nikon D5000, D7000 and a Sony A7
I usually use the kits lenes that came with the Cameras.
How ever, when I can. I will use my sigma 105 Macro 2.8
or The ultra wide angle 24mm 2.8 macro lense.
I think that knowing what I use may help you or others in your critique
of my images.
All comments are welcome here.
Thank you :-)
