After a disappointing summer of butterfly drought, this
Eastern Black Swallowtail Butterfly flew into my yard and began feeding on some of the flowers. Before she left, she deposited her eggs an several plants.
She was difficult to follow while I shot HH using my Canon EOS 50D w/ EF 70-200mm L IS + EF 2.0X II TC @ 400mm; Tv @ 1/500"; AUTO ISO (320); Pattern Metering @ f5.6; AI Servo AF @ 5fps. Exif intact. PP w/PsE8.
Enjoy these. Comments welcome.

Incredible shots! The one in the flower is fantastic. Really like the PP. We had a butterfly shortage, too. Thanks for sharing these!

Very, very beautiful, Gene. I've never seen one depositing eggs. Are you going to follow the progress of her offspring? :)

:) Thank you, Linda. For the past two years, I followed the development of caterpillars but the predators did a job on them. I'm surprised this one made it. I'll be looking out for the ones this female deposited, come next spring. Glad you like these and thanks for looking.
