I am visiting Hong Kong in three weeks. I am aware that the streets are crowded, weather is warm, and there will be mostly sunshine. I'd like some suggestions as to which of these three lenses for my Nikon D5300 should I take for street scenes. Thank you, Jim

Sigma 18-50mm f2.8-4.5

Nikon 18-55mm f3.5-5.6

Nikon 18-140mm f3.5-5.6

If it were me, I would take the 18-140. I'm not familiar with this lens, but if you need the longer zoom, it is there for your use. That Nikon 18-55, for a kit lens, is sharp. What a trip! Do you need a friend?????

I would take the 18-140 VR. You can use the extra reach. Enjoy the trip!

The 18-140 no question. Not sure why you're even considering the others except maybe the sigma because of it's aperture, but that won't matter much at 18mm

18-140 without hesitation. Nice to have some extra reach at times.

Your only real choice of the 3 offered.

I agree. I would take the 18-140 without hesitation. If you really need the extra light, you could always up the ISO at those times. Have a great trip!
A monopod might be worth taking too.

18-140. If you have time, hire a boat to take you out into Hong Kong Harbor before sunset. Best photographs I ever shot.

You should come along. I go to Taiwan twice a year because 2 of my former students live there and they are great at showing me around. If you have never been to Taiwan, go. It is wonderful. It is such a bargain that over 2 million Red Chinese go there for vacations each year. My hotel runs $42.00 a night. Food is $5-$8 a day, the night markets are incredible, and so much to shoot.I am going to Hong Kong and then Taiwan on this trip. Hong Kong hotel is costing me a hundred a night. Thanks for your input on the lenses.

Thank you. I would love to get up on that summit at night as the photos I have seen of HK at night are spectacular.

I've spent a great deal of time in Taipei and Hong Kong. I liked Hong Kong much better but it ran a close second to Bangkok for atmosphere.

18-140, you will need the extra reach to crop people out of your photos when you shoot in crowded places.
