Yesterday as I was finishing up my yard work a FedEx truck rolled up and handed me a box from Cameta with a D7100. Look forward to learning about the features of this camera. Will be diving into the manual in addition to searching D7100 comments on the hog as I start my familiarization process. 8-)

Yes Jerry I did order a refurb from Cameta. After researching (much of it on the hog) I decided this was the best way to go. An interesting side note is that the camera I had for sale did sell on Amazon the very day the D7100 arrived. Will be taking the D7100 to Alaska next May. I am considering renting prime lenses for the trip to use. What do you think of that idea? 8-)

Besides been a great camera the D7100 will serve you well in Alaska. A friend of mine just returned from Africa where he did very well with his D7100.
It is a great idea renting lenses for your trip.

I just took mine on vacation fot the first time. I used a Nikkor 18-140, Nikkor 70-300, and a Sigma 18-250 macro. Great camera, and easy to use. You will love it.

I had the same question. It sounded like a surprise birthday gift. Share the journey and enjoy!

Yes the way I worded it would give that impression. Usually I'm not at home when anything gets delivered. 8-)

You will enjoy your new D7100. I don't recommend renting "prime" lenses for your trip. I would suggest good zoom lenses (f/2.8 variety). I would look at an ultra-wide angle (14-24 or 16-35 and something like a 70-200. Good luck.

A great camera that receives high praise from many. Going with refurbished is a great idea and Cameta has great selections. I just took delivery of a refurbished lens from them and I cannot tell it was refurbished, but for the box not being the gold and black used when shipping new lenses. Good luck with the new camera and have fun using it.

Congratulations. This is my small sensor go to camera. I am currently traveling in Provence at the moment and I take more shots with this than the 800e because it is fast, light durable ad is is perfect for crowded markets, etc.

Let us know how you like it.
