I don't know if this was Mom carrying junior out for a snack, an argument over how a meal is to be divided, or a Ménage à trois of the insect world gone terribly wrong. The headless, partially consumed insect was still moving, and it's green legs were intertwined with the mantis' bodies. The small mantis was not about to leave it's perch on top of the large mantis, possibly for fear of becoming the next meal.

Clever title. I like the first image. It gives new meaning to 'having a leg up'.

Thank you. Extension tube for close focus, and flash to help with any un-steady camera hand.

Thank you. I enjoy attempting to amuse with titles and descriptions, but I made sure to preface with the word "Insects" for those that hate to be "tricked" into viewing something they have no desire to see. :)

Thanks Jimjay.

The small mantis did not want to separate from the other. I wanted to see the "meal" a little better and I had quite a time removing it without harming the others. The "meal's" legs were not only intertwined... they were still gripping the others' bodies. I'm still not sure what type of insect it was.

Thank you Susan and Angela K -

And, If it's a game of insect twister, it's not a version I ever want to play... "Left foot green... Now, chew your neighbor's head off." :)

Take about a photo telling a story. This one has all kinds of possibilities. Great shots. I'm afraid the smaller Mantis is dead meat.
