How do you keep your photo gear when you're home.
Mine is not neatly in one place so the wife is complaining .I will only put inside a vacant bedroom when the grandchildren are coming. Can you suggest or can you tell how you do it?
I have a dedicated sofa, cameras and lenses at one end, bits and bobs in the middle seat and bags, tripods, monopod, rain jacket and vest at the other end. It works, but visitors have to use cushions on the floor.
I am single and even complain to my self... especially when trying to find something.
Storage bin that fits under the hung shirts in the closet has helped. Within that big one is smaller ones... and in those still smaller ones....! Well yes like for filters... the smaller in smaller contains them, one for 37mm one for 52mm and one for 52mm and one for conversion rings...
My back pack for DSLR helps too!
This might sound a little odd but consider a lockable gun cabinet.

In the basement in a storage cabinet. A dehumidifier located in the basement runs 24/7 from April tip November. The cabinet is locked with a lock that resists being cut by bolt cutters. Which means if I ever loose the key???
I picked up one of those vinyl storage cabinets. It has 4 shelves inside. I keep my cameras, accessories and a few other electronic items inside. Seems to work out okay. The tripod doesn't fit too well, but I still manage to get it there. I think they ran about $60 to $70 last year. If you go this route shop around online a bit for the best pricing.
I was just thinking about the same issue of storage for camera equipment the other day and have this old unplugged refrigerator I am not using so I would use silica gel and make sure the door had a good seal, that might work.
I have six shelves mounted to the wall in a bedroom for my photo stuff. If you mount shelves to the wall get a stud finder to make sure the screws are going into studs. You can get the type that has the bars that are mounted vertically on the wall and you can position the shelf supports at different levels. I have my cameras in shoulder bags on the shelves.

I keep my cameras and gear in a camera bag ready to go. Grab and run and have the tripods stored in back of my seat in the truck.
Each camera D70/D80 in their own file drawer. The analog film cameras in their own drawer (normal) with accessories. Digital and film separated.☺
I use a gun safe. I added shelving inside.

I have an entire room for my cameras plus I have my darkroom!
Keep mine on a table in the living room for easy reach and use. They are usually in an open camera bag for easy grab and go or for taking pictures of the grand kids.
