I wonder if the vote would have been the same if England had been given the vote to keep Scotland in the UK?

As a retired educator, this is a lesson for all to be attentive to. Democracy in action! Bless the United Kingdom and its people. Seems as if they will remain in the U.K., but it would have been fascinating to watch if it had gone the other way.

Disaster averted, thank goodness. William Wallace is rolling in his grave, but a nation divided will not long endure.

I think it would be yes, --Besides being great people the Scots has contributed so much to the UK and while I feel we would have survived well as a 3 nation Britain we would have been a lot worse off with out them. One good thing that has come out of all of this we may now finish up with a system and Parliament that works for all people.

If wonder myself had we all woken this morning to a different result what would be the consequences? Certainly all 4 countries would never be the same again and not socially for the better, and economically and security wise it would, for the medium term at least, be a disaster. But it has been a period of sensible and emotive debate by all Britons the like of which I have never experienced, which has lead to the politicians on all sides having to listed and take note of the peoples grievances. I only hope that they are sensible enough and big enough to crawl out of there cosy little world and act upon the information Scotland and the rest of Britain is telling them.

Thank you for your kind response. We had the politicians communicating with the proletariat, for once. Let's pray for a stable just society with a strong start to eradicating poverty. Above all, strive for peace.
All comments apply to all of the UK.
Keep friendship alive!

Beautifully put, Geoff. I also hope the UK rekindles the Christian ideals that are the basis of the UK's society. Keep Britain British.
