You can set the length of time the LCD is ON.. either in shooting mode or when viewing a picture. Go to 'Menu'. Select 'Custom Settings Menu', select 'Timers /AE lock'. Then scroll down to the 'Monitor Off delay', then select the time you want the LCD for each case.

Hi UHH friends,
I'm looking for advice regarding the rear LCD screen on my D7100. I can not find anywhere in the settings where I can set it to remain on. (My close-up sight isn't good; - usually wear spectacles for reading, computing, etc). So IF I could get my rear LCD to remain on I wouldn't have to keep flipping my glasses on & off. On my D5100 I was able to do this; - the screen would only blank out when I depressed or half depressed the shutter release button, then as soon as I took my finger off the shutter the display would automatically return. This was great as the bigger characters meant I could see my ISO, aperture, etc without resorting to my spectacles.
Sincere thanks in advance for any advice.
Danny.

Maybe this will help!
You can configure the camera to turn on the "shooting info display" when you rotate the power switch to the lightbulb symbol. The info on how to do that is on Page 229 of the manual (see picture).

Perhaps you are right - if so, I apologize for misinterpreting.

yes, f8lee, oldtigger is correct: I'm NOT talking about being in Live View - (which I only very occasionally use). I just hoped I could find a setting whereby my info would always be displayed on the rear LCD - instead of having to keep pressing the "i" button to get it back. I have further looked through the [printed] Manual - and it seems I cannot achieve that with the D7100 - as I could on the D5100.
. . . . Will have to just keep hitting the "i" button I guess.
Thanks to you all for queries, suggestions & input.
