For over a hundred years I sheltered your family, and kept you warm and dry. I stood against the elements and held on as long as I could while you and your children left me to stand alone' The barn held your animals to provide you with sustenance and warm clothes. I held them together and sheltered them from the cold and snow in the winter, for the past 3 years my back has been broken and I have lost my strength. I can stand no longer. In June 2014, the old barn gave way, I took photos of it for over 3 years just knowing it would not be there when I returned but it was. It sagged like you see for three years, but it held, it is now a bare spot in the grass
Very interesting shots and narrative, Tad.
Thanks for the story and photos...really enjoyable.
I did similar photos for many years of an old swayback barn near Ten Sleep, WY. It, too, ended up as a pile of barn wood after one particularly rough winter. One day I will dig out those photos and post them. Thanks for the inspiration!
Enjoyed the story and the photos tad.
Very nice photos and the story go together perfectly....Rich

Nice, but sad, narrative and photos. Very well presented.

Thanks Linda !! I hope someday to get back to Maine and shoot the little fishing villages etc. I shot Booth Bay and Bar Harbor back in 88 and the Portland Head Light House. (hope that's right, memory is down to a kilobyte)

Thanks for the compliment on the avatar. I found that one on the web some years ago. All I did was touch in my glasses, sort of make it a bit more personal.
