Is it possible to remove a person from one photo and move to another within just Lightroom? I cannot find the tools to do that!

No, LR does not have a cut and paste option.

No. Lightroom's strengths are Digital Asset Management, cataloging your images so 3 years from now, you can find the precise image you want.

It does have the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) editor engine, which helps tremendously, but it is nowhere close to the power of PhotoShop, which will perform the edits you mention.

No. You need a pixel editor that offers layers and masking to do that - Photoshop, Corel, etc etc etc. Lightroom is just a parametric global editor - it does not function on rasterized images at the pixel level, which is what you need.

Without buying Photoshop, you can purchase Adobe Elements which will do that and many other Photoshop tools, but much cheaper. Of course now you can subscribe for about $10 per month and get photoshop and much more.

With Elements and Photshop you can move seamlessly from LR and back again.

Gimp which is free can do this on their layers. It isn't too complicated to do but you do need to read the manual. We have an Gimp expert here who is very helpful, his name is Shakey and if you type Gimp in the search menu and look through for his name you will soon find it and his links. Gimp's link is below.

Gene, I have to disagree with you. The brush, radial filter, clone/heal tool, linear gradient allow you to do some local tweaks. But on the larger question of taking something from one shot and put it into another, you are correct.

Very poor statement of Lightroom. It is a fabulous Highly capable Editor. Most who own it and Photoshop find it meets 95% + of needs; I.e don't need Photoshop.

I'd say it's primary strengths are elegant simplicity of workflow and presets, making it especially powerful for RAW editing.

Yes, I love the workflow of LR. Learn something new with it everyday. I'm able to enhance my images easily. Clone, heal, etc is great. Now learned I cannot take an image from one photo and transfer to another but I rarely need this function. Thanks for the response!

Yes. I don't know how these folks get such a warped perspective of Lightroom. They clearly don't use it.

But we all agree it doesn't do what the OP asked.

While I don't disagree with your statements of LR, I stand by my statement. The LR editor is not equivalent to PS. Different editing capabilities. Yes, LR will do 80-90% of the work I do on an image, but that other 10-20% must be done with PS, or something like it.

I bought LR to manage my catalog of images.
