We should be so thankful that God calls unworthy and unqualified people to serve Him, just as He called a murderer named Moses and a murderer and adulterer to be Israels second king. Even if we do not fit the agenda of people with whom we work, were part of Gods agenda wherever He calls us to serve Him.
My father used to quote an old black preacher who said: "God can hit a straight lick with a crooked stick."
So true, nice post

Was calling them to murder in the first place part of His 'agenda'?
 :?:
what are you talking about? seriously?

If you don't mind. I had to read it a couple of times myself not being sure of what he was talking about. Moses had k**l an Egyptian and tried to hide it but he was found out about it and ran off into the desert. Although Moses was a murder, God still used him to take his chosen people out of Egypt.
David had become King of Israel and had committed adultery. On top of that David plotted to have her husband k**led in battle by putting him on the front lines. Still, God used David and promised that a future King would sat on his throne whose reign will last forever. That King would be Jesus.
No matter what kind of people we are, God can and will use us for his good, even murders and adulteries.
Preachdude - that's such a relief to hear. I felt the weight just slide off my shoulders. You and I should go out on the booze together sometime. We could swap stories all night.

I was checking out old posts and discovered your comment, though a bit late. I was in New Zealand for 24 days back in '97. If I can get the resources to go back, I'd love to sit down to chat with you.
Of the 24 days, 16 were spent on South Island. I had a marvelous worship experience at Church of the Nativity in Blenheim, on South Island. On North Island, I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the people of St. Chad's Anglican Church in Orgwa.
Thanks for your response.

Although God did not prompt Moses to murder a man, God used him as a prophet and leader.
Although King David seduced another man's wife and got her pregnant, and then arranged for her husband's death so he could have her as his wife, David admitted his guilt and faced God's punishment with humility. God went on to use him as one of the greatest kings in human history.
My original point is simply this: Since God can use seriously flawed people to do great things, God can use you and me if we're willing to let God do so. There is no way that anyone can be "good enough" to get into heaven, so God sent us Jesus to make it possible. That act is an expression of God's love, mercy, and grace. All we have to do is accept God's gift by letting God be God and letting Jesus Christ be our King. So it is that Christians try their best to do things God's way -- not because it is the law, but because we love God and His Son. :-):D
Well said, Preacherdude. Refreshing to see that there are still some who have their theology clean, simple and straight.

But has he called McDonald Trump...the T-shirts are ready....
Reminds me of this scripture Preachdude...
1 Timothy 1:12-16
I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.

So you're speaking for God, now, saying that God has called "McDonald Trump?" :-D --- or do you now think you're God? ;)
