Another stupid decision......

winterrose, this is very bad form.
It is childish and morally corrupt to d**g your arguments all over the site with your slurs and insults and insinuations.
Which you have continued to do these last few days.
Your continued attempted bullying of nightski by PM is also on the record, and noted, and very influential in my decision.
But to take a post from the Critique section, and post it in the main section, with the purpose of publically ridiculing that poster, and discrediting the section, shows a distinct lack of respect for all concerned.
You do not have the maturity or judgement required to continue being welcome in the Critique section.
As such, you are not welcome to participate in that section until further notice.
This "further notice" will depend entirely on your attitude and exhibited behaviour moving forward.

You have not been singled out in anyway whatsoever.
The same consequences will apply to anyone who exhibits such long term disruptive, bullying, immature, never ending, vindictive behaviour as you have.
This is not about point scoring.
You have hurt many people with your words and actions.
You were informed of the courses of action that could be taken, and yet you continued playing your psychological games.
There is cause and effect, and the sooner you face up to the reality of your actions, the sooner you may be able to adjust your behaviour.

I am not whining at all.

All the rules and regulations and now the threats and expulsions by nightski's stand-over man, (see lighthouse, plural, you should have waited 5 minutes) the section is falling apart at the seams.

I'm only reporting the antics.

What a strange statement to make to one person. Of course you singled him out!!

The same consequences will apply to anyone who exhibits such long term disruptive, bullying, immature, never ending, vindictive behaviour

Then go on to threaten everybody on the forum that if they say anything you personally do not like, they will be excluded from the "clique." They already are excluded from your clique. That makes this nothing but idle threats. Who Cares!!!

The interesting part of that statement is that the bullying, immature, vindictive behavior is done by the "clique" toward anybody else (non members) who dare post in the Critique Section.

I was shocked by the absolute poor behavior by the "clique" towards Bobby Deal regarding his photo "Moxie." That was extremely bad. We all had an opportunity to learn something from that post. Instead it just cheapened the "clique" even more.

I feel like I am back in high school with the bullying and the name calling. Time to grow up!!! We are all supposed to be adults here. The wonderful part of this forum is the diversity of people, opinions, and creativity on here. Why are you trying to get everybody to conform to your narrow way of thinking? Photography is an art form and as such a portion of this is subjective (personal taste). Calling anybody's photo "crap" is shocking to see. Why do you think anybody should put themselves out there for that kind of treatment?

Well, that didn't long. Joe Goebbels must have that ready and waiting.

Men were sent to the colonies as punishment for stealing a morsel of bread but in comparison, this is unbearable, positively inhuman discipline....

Please understand I'm not interested in--and will not participate in--a counterproductive and personal flame war. Just a couple of comments.

Our photo club recently had a professional with 35 years experience in NYC in fashion, beauty and editorial photography--he also taught photography at Bard College in NY and currently teaches lighting at UNC-Chapel Hill--come in to critique members photos. We could each bring 3 prints and there were about 100 for him to assess. It was a remarkable learning and instructional session--to have a professional with this gent's experience comment on all sorts of images was fun, dynamic and educational. Even though my focus is different than his extensive experience, I hope to use his comments and observations in my humble work. And that was the point.

Too often I see folks on the Critique section start off with "I don't know anything about portraits [for example], but ..." and then offer comments on an image that are not insightful or even technically correct or informed. I find nothing wrong with people having an opinion, but when Nightski and Country Mama started the section, it appeared the intent was to give people a unique opportunity to get really insightful commentary on an image. To me, it is designed to stretch the discussion and be almost educational--to help us all look at something maybe a bit differently, listen to informed critique by those with more experience and learn and grow, even if we don't post a comment. Again, to me--and maybe just to me--that should be what distinguishes it from the Gallery. However, I've seen posters get rightfully and justifiably frustrated with off-topic and generally uninformed comments and push back. Then the Critique moderators and their supporters, who often don't have much of a basis for their opinions, chime in, not to further the objective of the section, but to chastise the OP. I've seen too many folks who are quite good say they will never post to the Critique section because of the rather odd environment. Too bad, because it started off as a great concept with a shed load of potential that got off track at some point.

Regards.

For someone who posts mostly to the Chit-Chat section--the professional whiners site--you sure let WR get under your oh, so, sensitive skin.

I doubt that Jack cares jack about what anyone thinks about Jack. He does not seem thin skinned to me, except for the fact he will cuss you out for being critical of Jack. Not sure that is thin skin or just an arrogant attitude.

But for once, I agree with Jack. WR has been whining about the Critique forum in a very immature way with several posts lately.

I'm such a victim, whine, whine, whine.

Don't like the rules, point it out in a mature manner.

Or, start a new section and be the lead on it.

I'll buy that and move on. Regardless of WR and his attitude, the Critique Section is less than what it could be. These are all my opinions, of course, but I'm not sure it provides much value to the overall.

I'm done now.

Regards.

Exactly my problem with the Section, doduce.

And I have tried to covey that to nighstki on several occasions.

I don't see much mileage in buttering up a poster before coming to the point and I do not believe that anyone who is serious about learning would expect that.

I get to the point, and by doing it concisely is apparently viewed by nightski and others as an insult.

I have been pretty sharp with critics when I see them give advice which is just plain wrong and I do that to drill home their lack of knowledge because on history, novices with only limited understanding very often try to argue as nightski tried to do with my statement that the raven was not black.

It's painfully obvious, and nightski has admitted so, that the Section is there for her enjoyment and lo and behold anyone who dares to take it seriously.
