You are mistaken. There is affirmative action in pilot hiring and promotion. As a passenger, I would prefer that the folks in the cockpit be chosen by qualification rather than be given an edge because of g*****ls or skin color. There should be NO affirmative action there; only qualifications. And because of affirmative action, there is a real question as to whether a woman pilot is actually the best person available for the job.

Do you really think that an airline company is going to hire a woman, not based on her abilities but to fill a quota? Knowing the billions they could get sued if, because of 'pilot error' she could be negligent to the point of possibly having the entire company go under? I guess I'll just have to keep my naive idea that the person flying the plane is a competent, sk**led employee who knows the overwhelming responsibility he or she has while in the cockpit.

Many of the articles discuss the pressure to hire female and black pilots, the dumbing down of standards, and tipping the scales in various ways.
