I been using Canon cameras since I went to Digital I have a 20D & a 40D with a lot of lenses right now and have not used a Nikon since my film days, well I just bought a used Nikon D 200 at a good price thought I'd give it a try I have a friend that shoots one so I can use some of his lenses and I still have a couple of lenses from Nikon film cameras, What do you think of this body ?
The D200 is a sound body. Many photographers who purchased D200s years ago, kept them as reliable back-up cameras for their newer models.
I still use mine- for Boy Scouts, kid's school events, Great body. Battery life is a bit short, but I have spares.
I think most people would have a hard time outgrowing it's potential. I'm biased, but I think it' may be equal to your 40D.

Glad to hear you came back from the dark side (Cannon) Seriously the D200 is a great camera hope you take a lot of great photos with it. I used Cannon film cameras for years with alot of great results.
Price of the D200's has been dropping fast for a year now. Nothing wrong with them at all, they take very nice pics. Congrats.

It's easier to control the light from the "Dark Side" hence better photos.
So much for a Nicken !! hehehehe
It's a great camera. I've had mine since 2007 and I will not part with it!

Lets just say she lost a lot of points there seriously My job took me away from home alot and she was a good sport about it but when you are away fifty percent of the time that gets old, but she should never had droped the Cannon
How can Canon be the "dark side" with all those off-white lenses?

That is what I thought too. The Nikon was always referred to by photographers as the "dark side" because mostly all nikon bodies and lens are black.
I have 2 and use them all the time have never had any issue and they take very good photos and are quite versatile.
I bought the D70 when it came out...then the D200 and D300 when it came out. I also bought a Canon 5DMark II and use all my cameras. All are great with no problems. My daughter will inherit the D300 when she goes to college. Love Nikon and Canon.
Just saw the D800 release video, how am I going to sneak that in the house?
