Have 16GB Kingston SD card, can read in camera MarkIII and
cannot read or copy with reader. Tried Media Medic, cannot open. Files are raw only. Can add to SD card in camera and read in camera. Any Suggestions?
Sounds like bad card reader. Try getting a new one that plugs into a USB port.
Reader works with other cards. Will Try. Thanks

Can you connect the camera to your computer with a cable? If so, copy the pictures to your PC, then reformat the card in camera.
I believe that your USB port is the culprit. (USB2 versus USB3) I have the same problem, I cannot use a reader (for that particular card) to download to my PC. However I could put the card directly into my laptop and no problem. Then I tried using the reader with the laptop, it also worked. So, this indicated a problem with the PC USB port. Here's a bit more info. The laptop is a fairly new one and is running using Windows 7. It has an SD slot so I can put the card in directly. I can download this way. Tried using the card reader with this laptop and it also worked. However, this card reader would NOT work with the PC. ALL other Cards (all Compact flash) work with this PC and card reader. The PC is older and is running on Windows XP.
Will certainly try camera direct. Thanks

My guess would be that camera direct will not work. The card is too fast for that particular USB port. Please let me know as I have the same problem.
Try cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser
Sorry I meant the contacts on the card.

Is it a possibility that the card reader was manufactured before SDHC cards came out? If so, it won't read a 16GB SDHC card. New ones are only $10 or less if that's the case.

XP is dead! or no support. I bet XP doesn't recognize a lot of cards.

Bad idea because of battery use, but if that's all you have use it.
The problem was not in the card, but the reader. Changed to a Lexar reader and there was no problem. Stay away from Transcend readers. Thanks to the guy who suggested change reader. Canon plug in did not fit camera. Will call Canon about this. Thanks again.
