Driving down the road in one of my usual spots I came across this guy. At first I thought it was a tree branch lying in the middle of the road and then it started to move. I got out and took a couple of shots and then I realized that it was a water Moccasin or Pit Viper. I quickly got back in my car and finished shooting from the window.

Agree with busted_shutter. It isn't a water moccasin. The coloring isn't right. Not sure about being a hognose.

I lightened the shadows on the first one a bit to better see the nose. I'm inclined to agree with busted. Not that I would try to pet it. :wink:
