I have several great, old Minolta lenses and would like to find a Sony digital that these lenses will fit. I really hate the thought of giving up these lenses. I do have TWO 90-300 lenses and will sell one when I decide which one to keep, but I need a camera first. I had 4 Minoltas the lenses fit. I had two XG1, one srTmc2 and an XG-A.
Please tell me if you know which cameras these lenses will fit. I'm sorry to add that price IS an issue

Just looked and I'm thinking this may belong in a differnt area...sorry. Maybe admin will move it if it needs to be

Minolta auto focus lenses will work directly on Sony Alpha's. Minolta MD and MC lenses need an adaptor (these lenses are manual).

The cheapest I could find on the Sony page is the apha-55 which has pretty good reviews but I Haven't yet used any Sony cameras

Thank you both so much! It may be best to sell all I have and get something different...hard to decide what to do.

I would also suggest you like at the used market, Sony alpha's have been out long enough there might a few A100's show up used. Look at the A580.

Oh GOOD! Thank you all for your input. I will check out some used ones.

I don't intend to make an effort to become a pro photographer, just want great photos instead of "pictures or snapshots".(is that too much to ask??? LOL!)Don't we all?

I did weddings and horse shows years ago and the Minolta film cameras were great for that. In '87 my house burned and I lost all of my photo equiptment except a big bag full that my brother borrowed. I was reluctant to lend them, but then I was glad I did.

After the fire I bought a used Minolta. It didn't last long and I bought 2 more used. They died after a short while too, so I have 1 Minolta that still works, 3 that do not and all the lenses, filters and other "oh-I can't-live-without-that" things.

I had cancer in 1990 and even with good insurance, it almost took all we had. No extra $ for photo equiptment.
Later, I bought a small Fugi digital that is a great little P&S camera, but little is the key word. I had no idea what to do with digital! I'll keep it for little things.

After that I bought a Canon S3is. I love this camera, but I need more. You ALL must know that we never seem to have enough, but hubs retired now, so not a lot to spend! I am going to sell 3 of the Minoltas for parts and do several oil paintings to sell and see what I can come up with.
Just wish me luck. Thank you so much! Going to shop now!
Jo

Thanks hobbss. Not many people ever bother to look at website. Thank you for looking. Not much photography on mine. I need to add some. Mine is mostly paintings and I need to add my latest ones. The site is a mess because it was hacked and wrecked by some kids "having fun". Many of my pictures are missing and many in the wrong places...a lot of repair work ahead of me.

Yes, they should fit on the Sony Alpha cameras. I have a Minolta 500mm lens that I bought used for my Sony a200 & a 580. Good luck :)

I have had an A200 for a couple of years and love it. I have the kit lens on it and three other Minolta lenses that work well. The camera fits well in my hand, is easy to use, and takes good pictures. I don't think you can get the A200 any more, and it is not a full sensor camera, but you should be able to take a lot of good pictures with any of the Sony cameras. Good luck, and post some of your pictures if you get a Sony. This picture was taken with the A200 in Yosemite.
