Not so bad she was quite timid. About 2"head and body. She appeared on the outdoor table. The flash spooked her and she hid under the table. She wasnt very happy to be bundled into a container so I could put her where she was protected from the birds .

#5 should allow you to compare it the the Spider eye chart recently posted by Nikonian. I thought I had book-marked it-- but I can't find it now....

I think it's a Wolf spider-- but not one I've seen.

To me, resembles #16 or #17: both Huntsman spiders.

I agree with Douglass. I think it's one of the Sparassidae. But I can't recall seeing one quite like this one.

But then........ it IS from Australia.

Thanks William, yes she was big, and I admit I prefer my spiders much smaller and slower. This one was very fast when she decided to move and she could move extremely fast sideways ,which made it hard to anticipate her movements. 12 months ago I would not have been any where near her. Thanks for all the help and advice.

I certainly enjoy seeing critters from the other side of my world. I hope to visit someday. one of my fantasy trips. What city/town is closest to you?
