I want to purchase a new Nikon D7000. there are not a lot of them out there. I can find refurbished ones but not new ones. Does any know if Nikon plans on coming out with a new model of this. Also am I right in saying that this camera will take the old AF nikon lenses. Thanks

nikon's plant in thailand which makes the d-700 suffered severe flooding damage and thus not only the shortage of d7000's but the overdue delay in the introduction of the d7100. just about any nikon lens will fit any nikon camera, i do not know if the 7000 has an af motor in the body. if it does old nikon af lenses will work including auto focus, if not you lose the autofocus. go to nikonusa.com for more info.

Both Ebay and Amazon have them.

Yes, it has the motor in the body.
Try Nikon for refurbed. Canons are usually about $100 less than new, but have a decent warranty. Co-worker bought new one for his wife last year. That is one sweet camera.
I have ordered this camera body on back-order.......the only ones I can find this morning are either used (Amazon) or new and used on e-bay. Most of the new ones seem to be offered from Japan. Please let me know if you locate a new one from the US.
My friend just got one from Costco in Atlanta. He did it on the phone. He got the one with the 18/200 lens.
He had a refurbished one that was broken so he sent it back.

I bought a refurbished D7000 and I am very happy with it. I think that as long as you get it from a reputable seller you should be fine.
I have a refurbished d7000 and have been very pleased. I don't know of anyone who has purchased one from a reputable dealer who has had a problem.
Kalb photo in Allentown Pa had a couple a week ago. Talk to David he also had the battery grip in stock. I buy all my Epson products from him and a few lenses. Always top notch service.
Thanks Phocus. I did order the camera yesterday, although I spoke with someone named Mike. I had courteous service, and they still had the D7000 in stock.

Have fun. Now that I've been through the manual once I've got to go back and remember what I've read. There is a lot on that camera!!

Congrats. It's a great camera, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it. The manual will tell you everything about the camera, but not in very much detail. There are a number of D7000 specific books, some are better than others. When I got my D7000 I ordered two books from Amazon.com. "Mastering the Nikon D7000" by Darrell Young and "David Busch's Nikon D7000 Guide To Digital SLR Photography". I have found them both to be very helpful.
I've also had "D7000: From Snapshots to Great Shots" by John Batdorff recommended to me. If it's not available in your library you can get it through inter-library loan.
