I was expecting love and found indifference instead. A shame because, for me, to many "improvements/features" I couldn't care less about and to few that I do. ;)

It looks like a great camera if you shoot in low light (ISO 100-51,200) but not so good for action and sports (6.5fps). The price is reasonable for all the features it comes with (expeed 4 processor, 51 point auto focus system with 15 cross type auto focus points, magnesium and carbon fiber frame, tilt screen, weather sealed). Hopefully there wont be another oil spot fiasco like Nikon had with the D600. Until it's been out for a while and any bugs have been worked out I'll stick with my D3.

It really appears to me that it is merely an upgrade to the D610 rather than a whole new camera as presented. Expeed 4 and video equal to the D810 would be an expected upgrade at this level. The tilting LCD is new in a Nikon full-frame and some users will want that. I would not recommend anyone sell what they already have in a full frame body just to get one, but it might be the perfect upgrade for D5200 or D5300 users who want their flip screen feature but also want to move to full frame.
After seeing the full release specs I have decided I will not be buying the D750 to add to my rental inventory as it has so few features over the D610 to justify the expense.
But that's just my opinion.
Will it attract buyers eyeing the D810 because of the $1000 lower price tag? Obviously it will, but the D610 style body features will mean that number will likely be amateurs looking to improve their video capabilities, not Pros.
As a previously rumored "Action" camera I think it should have been capable of 8 or 9 fps to really compete in that arena.
Quite frankly, I am a bit disappointed in what Nikon has done with this opportunity.

Yep, it seems that it is a video camera with the capabilities to take photos.

I like that, I was hoping this would be an upgrade from my D700's under $3000. Just remembered, the $2299 cost is about a $1000 less than when the D700 was introduced. I have no use for the video features, I am a photographer not a videotographer.

Exactly what I was thinking. And I, too, am indifferent about the video. As for the articulating screen, I consider it more of a liability than a feature. But it still seems a quantum leap from the 700 as far as processor and focus system go, and better ISO as well, though the 700 is no slouch.

For me, the 800 or 810 was never under consideration, but now I need to decide if the 750 is worth the extra $ over the 610.

OR... waiting for user feedback on Fuji X100T. I'm reaching the point where simplifying is becoming more appealing.

I too am really disappointed with the features of this camera. Having a D700, was looking for some upgrades to it, not a 5100 with flip screen. Guess I will still be searching for a deal on a D3 or D4.

Juicesqueezer, I got my D3 used from KEH for $2000. Although it had a shutter count of 22,000, the camera looked like it was brand new and had never been used.

The thing that ticks me off the most on my D800 is the ridiculous threaded connector for a remote shutter release and lack of infrared input for it. I couldn't find it in the writeup but it looks like this doesn't have the dreaded threaded connector and might have infrared. Or maybe there is a wireless release? That would be one great feature.

I like the tilting screen but would MUCH prefer the fully articulated screen of the D5xxx. It is useful for selfies and on a telescope or even milky way photos. Not sure this one flips 180 to help with those uses. It will help with low and high angle shots so is a step in the right direction.

It also looks to weigh a lot less than my D800...another good thing.

Definitely on the list when my D800 is ready to go down the road. But that isn't soon.

Thanks, have been looking for sure! That shutter count is low. You got a great deal.
