I have been near this monastery a 100 or more times over the years. They have been doing some additional construction the past few years. The other day while on the other side of the road, which is the hiking trail for Overlook mountain in Woodstock, NY, I looked over and saw the courtyard entrance. I walked over to see what had been done. As I approached, the attention to detail on the columns was riveting. Then when inside the yard, well, the picture say it all.

Impressive structure - great shots!!
Yes, I was there about 5 years ago. Seems they have done some renovations. You didn't happen to go into any for temples around there grounds did you.

I was invited and they are very open to visitors but I was on a tight schedule and did not get to go inside.
If you don't Pithydoug, I'll post a few of the photos.

The more the merrier.
This is a closeup of the intricate column work. Note the symmetry of shape and color.
Just curiuos, what's the lighting inside? Looks like you used a flash bouncing off the ceiling.
Yes, bounced and diffused with a plastic defuses-er .. It was a few years back. This was before Light Room, LOL

Be interesting to see if this has all changed with the recent construction. Oh yes a defuser would be a must - without all the gold it would be massive refection.
Thanks, this may push me a little.
