The Heron pecked at it several time and decided it tasted bad, then let it go. Afterward the heron looked like he couldn't rinse his beak enough.

Called a Great Siren, according to literature grows up to 20" long. However, this one, IMO, was longer then that

Good photos. In this case, I think the heron's eyes were bigger than its' stomach.
