focus confirmation light 50D

I learned something new today. When manual focusing using a teleconverter, at least with my Tamrons, this light will come on when focus is locked. Was using the 100-400mm L at the time.

My question is will this work with all lenses?

It appears to work fairly well as per the examples. The woodpeckers were shot at about 15 feet, the cardinal at about 60 feet.

C&C welcome as always.

I believe so I often manual focus with my Tamron lens on 60D and often have the confirmation light come on in the area of my shot that is in focus but at the same time many times for me it doesn't come on because there isn't enough contrast for the auto-focus sensor to detect that I have it in focus, especially while taking close up pictures that confirmation light doesn't read.
