After every picture I get the "HR" message. If I turn the camera off and on again, I can shoot one more pic. I have changed ScanDisks but no change. My friend with a D70s had the same problem. Has anybody else had issues with their D70? Were you able to correct it?

Pull your card and check that all the pins are straight down in the socket. This sounds like memory card malfunction.

You may want to try cleaning the contacts.

All are okay. If there wasn't a proper connection, wouldn't I be unable to take one picture?

This is what I found in the manual.

I'll bet it is bent pin problems on the card connector. Look inside the card compartment with and see if there might be at least one pin that is bent. I had that problem and found a fix procedure by searching the web.

When you get this resolved, please let us know how it turned out.

I believe your card may be a goner. Never have you computer erase pictures from a memory card always remove the pictures by reformatting the card in the camera. A lesson I learned 8 years ago the hard way.

The problem exists between the in camera card connector and its relationship with the connection to the camera interface. This connection makes a 90 degree turn at the bottom of the card insertion slot and that interface gets stressed to the point where it no longer is reliable. The only fix is to remove the bottom cover and effect a repair. this can only be done by a well qualified repair person. . . . . suggest you check the repair pricing from K.E.H. as stated in earlier queries.
Don't try this repair on your own It can be very hard to even get the cover off without damaging the screws.

Nice time to consider converting the D70 to a dedicated IR camera and getting e new later technology body.

Erobin,
This appears to be a common problem with the D70 series cameras. I have two friends that have sent their D70 and D70s back to Nikon, for some reason they just do not stand up. May pay to look at a different version of Nikons.

I also have a D70, and lucky for me...not problems yet!

I once had a similar problem. A card I purchased was too large, 8g memory, for the camera. I returned to a 2g and it worked fine. Now I only use a 2g card. It is my back-up camera these days.
