I guess my first question would be, what FF camera have you decided on and what is the budget? I notice you have a Nikon 50mm 1.8. Would you be going Nikon? From your choices in the heading, I would imagine some wide angle lenses; 10-24 or 16-35, maybe a 24-70. I'm sure others will have better input that are more experienced. I have a Nikon D610 that serves well with my 16-35 and 24-70.

I have had great results with both my 16-35 F4 and my 14-24 F2.8. I also use my 105 F2.8 micro for landscapes.

I use zooms covering 16-200mm for landscape, with an occasional 300mm. I use mostly 600mm for wildlife.

The lenses you already own are more than enough, in my humble opinion, for the type of photography you have in mind. The Sigma has good reports and the old 28-70 is a very good lens for its price.
If you intend to go full frame then you can keep the 28-70 as a general shooting lens, it should be more useful with full frame. Your 50mm f1.8 is a nice optic and you should keep it. Your present 70-300 is not going to be very good with full frame but the new 70-300 VR lens will be.
Do not agonize over "sharpness" since the majority of the lenses made today are sharp enough. Sharpness is more dependent on your technique than the lens itself.
Lenses do their part when we do ours.

I gotta tell ya, I just returned from a trip to Europe for which I packed a Nikkor 28-300 and a Nikkor 16-35 for use on my D800E. I never took the 16-35 out of my bag. My website is below; see for yourself (link is "Europe, August 2014"). Good luck.

Interesting. I'd have thought the opposite.

A few years ago when we travelled Europe I had a 18-55 and 55-300. Never used the 55-300.

Now I have an FX camera. We're planning a trip next June involving a river cruise and some train travel. Because of the latter I'm leaning towards taking my NEX-7. It is an APS-C mirrorless. With the 18-55 and 55-215 it weighs about the same as the 28-300 lens alone. I got the NEX-7 for hiking and air travel but hate leaving my big gun behind on this once-in-a-lifetime trip. I'll agonize over this till we leave in June.

Wait for the upcoming Pentax FF. You're golden with those great Pentax lenses!

Well, you've landed right in the crux of the matter, haven't you: it's not the equipment but the photographer that decides what should or should not be carried on a trip. We all look for different subjects, so there's no way we should expect one gear set to work for us all.

And that's why I refer people to my website when I give advice. My advice is worthless if you're a people photographer or someone who doesn't like to take sweeping landscapes.

I'm not familiar with the NEX-7, but I don't doubt you at all. I haven't tried it, but I think I could probably come home fairly satisfied if I only brought my Canon G-12. The notion of "zoom with your feet" can be applied to cameras. Adapting seems to be the key. As the Mounties say--or is it Monty Python poking fun at the Mounties--"adapt, adopt, and improve." Unless your subject has large, sharp teeth and no sense of humor, the eye is the thing, with the gear being secondary.

Oh, no! I've done it again. Yesterday it was soldiers, veterans, and bakers. Now I've insulted the Mounties. My world is getting smaller and smaller...
