My wife and I went to see our grandson play in his first college soccer game (8/30). He's a Freshman at Penn State University - Berks (Reading, PA) and started in their first game of the season at Mid. He's been playing soccer since age 5 and we have attended many of his games thru the years. Throughout High School, he was selected to the All Star team here in NE PA, and in his Senior year, he was selected MVP and on the
2013 PA All State Team.
Here are some pics of him in action that I shot during the game against Albright. I was using a Canon EOS 50D w/EF 70-200mm f2.8 L + EF 2.0X TC II; Tv @ 1/1250"; AI Servo AF w/center focus point; Partial metering; Auto WB and ISO. PP w/PsE-8. I rest the lens on a (rifle) bi-pod during shooting, and carry this "heavy" gear with an OP/TECH harness. I was able to take the shots from between the corner flag and goal post (my favorite spot for shooting soccer).
(Check some of my
previous UHH posts of soccer pics.)
I hope you like these. Comments welcome.

PS: I just learned that my grandson scored his first collegiate goal in yesterday's game (9/6) against Cazenovia in upstate NY. I hope my daughter comes back with some good pics (she's using my gear).
Gene,
Looks like you captured the action very well. What equipment and setting did you use?
Don
Should have read more of your post. Please disregard equipment & settings.
Sorry
