Long Tripod Needed

I am 6'4" tall and have had two back surgeries which has left me unable to bend very well. I find it difficult to use my older tripods because of the combination of my height and inability to stoop. Is there a tripod on the market made for lanky people?

Thanks in advance,
Dan

Most Pro level tripods are available in versions up to as high as 9'. Check out the offerings from Manfrotto/Bogen and from Gitzo. Be prepared to shell ous some serious cas though.
I am 6'5" tall and use the Bogen 3021 and 3046 models, it takes about 5 or 6" of my center column to reach my eye without stooping at all.

Feisol makes a tripod called CT-3371 that have an extended maximum height of 80.7 inches with optional center column. ReallyBigCameras.com carries them.

I can tell from the angle of your avatar photo that you are tall. I was guessing 6'4".

Jerry,
That one was taken by my daughter, she was only 4'8" last winter. She turned 10 today and is exactly 5' tall. She will be a 5 footer!

Here's a link with a decent guide for sizes.

http://reallyrightstuff.com/mmrrs/Images/gallery/choose_a_tripod.jpg

Look into a RRS ball head and an L-Plate for your camera.
The L-Plate makes swapping from horizontal to verticle a snap.

RRS is top of the line equipment so its not cheap. After its mortgage is paid off, you will be happy you bought high end.

And here is my favorite link to post about tripods!
