The Attic and non-conforming threads

Not a bad idea, because there is a lot of improper discussion on this site - and I've been a part of it, not being one to sit idly by and watch someone else unabashedly play the fool. The worst offenders are the pompous asses who belittle others' questions, ideas or gear. And there are some who just cannot admit when they are wrong while arguing their point ad nauseum. What, exactly, is improper for this forum? Is it that which I think, that I just adressed? (Please don't try to answer that rhetoric.)

Recently, I opined against a guy who completely poo pooed the OP's question with such childish contempt that I couldn't resist suggesting he might be a dumbass (he went on to confirm my suspicion.) So the next day, admin sent me a pm warning me to "watch (my) language." In the U.S., "dumbass" is not profane; coarse, perhaps, but not vulgar. It is allowed in prime time open-air broadcasting, and I have personally had the word published twice in the local newspaper.

So, if I use a generally accepted not-profane word and admin ignorantly believes it is obscene, should my thread be moved or I be banished? Perhaps admin should acquire and post a list of acceptable-use words. The FCC does publish one.

The true vulgarity on this site is not a questionable word or strong language, but the unwarranted bullying via unwanted and unsolicited, irrelevant opinions.

I agree with your entire post, with the exception being, "unsolicited, irrelevant opinions."

Chit-Chat and now the Attic, are the sidewalk with soapboxes and all the characters and actors and trolls. So "unsolicited, irrelevant opinions" are on the daily menu in these venues.
