Lightroom corrupt files

Apparently my 140 or so pictures I edited are all corrupted. I get a message "can not read file". Export goes normally except that nothing goes anywhere.
Any ideas?

I have not experienced this with Lightroom. Any number of things can corrupt files. You could try running chkdsk (Windows) or Fix Disk Permissions (Mac) to see if that resets anything in the files.

Hopefully you backed up the photos before processing, or at least still have the original files on the memory card.

The other important thing to see if you have backup, is your catalog. If you did, that is where all your PP edits are stored. If you haven't done catalog backup in the past you need to start immediately. Arnold

Upon further investigation it appears that I somehow edited them outside of LR and there were no metatags saved. They are there bur I cannot find them and neither can LR locate them with the locate function.
I did locate the catalog but it is not connected to the actual picture files.
So I am just retaking the pics, hopefully better, now that I am experienced with them.
Thanks
Kenpa

I know the feeling, I somehow misplaced some of my image files as well. They are on the hard drive but Lightroom doesn't recognize them. I know there is a way to restore them but I don't know how.

If you renamed them u should know the names or numbers of the file and you should never never work on yor org. File.
If u use the numbers just add a the underscore than an a like 000_a.jeg
That way u always have the org. To go back too.
I have two external drives one for org. The other for returning and I have LR create two catalogs. One for each of the above.
I know it's more work but less chance of loss.

I don't know what operating system you use or file format but JPEG Recovery pro software did a good job for me at recovering my pictures a few months ago when I had a card in my PS get corrupted and had the same type of reading error on all the JPEGS

One of the biggest mistakes folks new to Lightroom make is either moving, renaming, or making material changes to files OUTSIDE of lightroom. When this is done, LR does not know how to account for those files. Make sure that you do all of your moving, while working in LR. You can drag and drop folders, pictures....to new folders...you can create new folders, name and rename to your hearts content....AS LONG AS YOU DO IT in LR. The metadata sidecar files will be updated.

The easiest thing for you to do is to use the ADD feature and do another IMPORT the files back into LR.
