Anyone want to talk about post processing software ?

I'm kind of a software junkie and have post processing software from many sources downloaded into the computer, but if it helps others, my chosen favorites are Lightroom 5 with 5.6 presets added in, DxO Optics Pro 9 Elite with their latest update, and Paintshop Pro X6. Then, of course, I have Topaz linked into my Lightroom and Topaz has some very good presets that are of value every now and then ! Also, DxO Optics Pro 9 easily communicates with other sources of popular software and it's a pleasure to use, but is somewhat expensive ~ but very good !

As a note, I would mention Photoshop, but since they switched over to a monthly payment for their software usage, I moved on to other sources of which have been aforementioned..

Anyone else have any favorites to share ?

LR5 does 90% of what I need...for the rest, I use Photoshop CC 2014

I am a software junkie and have been since the days of bulletin boards and 8086 computers and Pong. While I have Nik, Topaz and others I really only use LightRoom and PhotoShop. With the exception of Nik, I have found that all of the other programs try to mimic the Adobe engines and the Adobe engines work quite well. Nik is very different and I do like it but I haven't needed it.

Thanks for the tip as I've never seen Nik before.. I do, however, see that it sells for a fair price and may just give it a try.. After all, a guy can never have enough software to play with :-D

Perhaps, you may be able to give me some assistance..

A few days ago, I had purchased SLR Lounges latest Lightroom 5.6 presets, but when attempting to load the local file presets (those for portraits with adjustments for noses, lips, teeth, etc), they would not download ~ AND they are the ones that I heavily rely upon :-(

If you have any ideas that may help, please let me know :D Thank You..

I don't use presets. You can easily whiten teeth in LR. Try YouTube for a tutorial. Good luck.

From another hopeless software junkie:
1 - Lightroom does most of it just fine
2 - Photoshop does the rest pretty well too
3 - But I wouldn't be happy without my NIK and Topaz plugins
4 - I like Perfect Photo Suite better all the time and sometimes use it instead of Photoshop. It handles lots of the same tasks but incorporates the layers and the special effects of plugins in a pretty intuitive interface. I continue to support this software which looks like the most mature alternative to Photoshop in case I ever have a falling-out with Adobe (I like Adobe's software but don't trust their business practices).

:) I'm contemplating upgrading my Suite 8 at the moment. Two things I've found that it does better than anything else I've tried, substituting backgrounds and resizing. Between it and the Topaz apps, almost anything needed is covered. I've been using Portrait Professional for portrait improvement, none of the like apps seems to be as good but they are catching up.

Just downloaded One Perfect. It also downloaded a link to LR 5. When I brought up LR 5, all my photos were gone...the entire database back to 2006 is not on LR. So I uninstalled One Perfect and rebooted. The LR database is still gone. The photos and directory structure is still there, but LR doesn't see any of it. I have no idea how to restore all that work.

I deeply hate LR. It's slow on my old PC and still a dog on my hot new PC. I hate applications where you need to buy books and take courses to learn how to use them. I hate applications that are so delicate that they can self destruct in a blink.

I have the newest Nikon NX-D and just printed out the instruction manual. If NX-D doesn't work for me I'll try something else that's not associated with Adobe.

Any software suggestions that don't involve a separate database will be very appreciated. I have several Pana cameras but mainly use a Nikon D5100 and D7000 with Nikon lenses.

Doing some quick research, Capture One Express 7 looks worth trying. Will research it here.

Grandpa, I am SOOO far removed from things like software, you'd probably wonder how I survive!
