Finally got to swim with some Whale Sharks. The vis was terrible, but that's why they were there, and the rules were many. No strobes or flash photography. Only two snorklers in the water at one time per guide. There were about 50 boats there with an average of about 8 people per boat. You were supposed to stay at least 10 feet from the sharks and it was hard to take a picture without a person in it. You only got about 5 min. in the water on each entry. The first time I got in 2 sharks went by, then about 5 Mantas and then a school of about 40 Atlantic Devil Rays. When I got out I told my fellow divers I was a little disappointed I didn't see a Sailfish. It was still fun, but I hope I get to see some somewhere there are fewer people. We were told ahead of time you either had to wear at least a 3 mil wetsuit or you would have to wear a snorkle vest. They also said no weightbelts would be allowed. I wore a 1 mil with a six pound weight belt and no one said anything.
Wow! I think these shots are terrific, chowe! Something I've never done and never will, but I love looking at the pictures!

Thanks. Here a few of the other critters we saw on the same outing.
Oh, the photos of the rays are so cool! Otherworldly!
For bad viz your shots are pretty darn good. What gear? I haven't been wet in about 8 years. My little Sealife was disappointing. I am sure they are better now.

Hi Walt,
I'm shooting a Canon 7D with the 17-40mm L lens. Sea and Sea housing. No strobes allowed here.
