Hello fellow hedgehoggers! I posted a picture of some ornamental peppers on a recent thread and stated they were part of a hedge. A hedgehog friend said they had never seen them growing in a hedge so I tried to find a picture online of a full hedge. I googled " ornamental pepper hedge" and selected "images". Much to my surprise, up popped my picture. I know it's mine cause it's watermarked. There were many others as well. It had a link to UHH if you clicked on it. I don't know if I feel flattered or violated. I post for you guys, not neccessarily the whole world. I searched and found others the same way. I'm not real Internet savvy so maybe this is commonplace. See if you can find some of yours!

UHH is published with Google and very well may be found with searches through Google.

I'm sure that's in the fine print. I'm not a real "fine print" kinda gal. Caused me some real headaches through the years.

I'm not sure what is in print, but it's just reasonable to me in that I only happened to find this great site through Google searches.

Any image in a website, on the internet, is searchable.

Tineye is a website that will tell you if any image has been posted on the internet: http://www.tineye.com

Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. all have bots that crawl the internet, and archive every page they have access to.

I've been surprised to see the same type of thing happen to me. Once something is on the web, it's world-wide.

This is what gets so many people in trouble when they post 'risque' pics of themselves on the net. They don't know, or remember, or care that when you put it on the internet, it is usually THERE and you are almost powerless about what happens to it or what it is used for from that point on. If you register the copyright, you can then pursue the abusers, but it is expensive and time consuming and usually not worth the effort unless the pic has some high dollar value......or it is a pic that better judgement would have led one to not post to start with and one wants to try to get it removed.

This happens no matter where you post. Try to Google your name. If you are on the internet you are on Google. It is all part of the web, good or bad. Welcome to the internet. The only way to keep everything your want to talk about safe, would be to go through the Post office. And that might not work either ;)

FYI, this post is on Google verbatim. If you google your "user name/ UHH" you can find every post you have made. Keep it friendly and clean.

Ah, the power of the internet .... Have you ever wondered why Google offers frreeeee service. And some information will be there foreeeeevor.

It's an eye opener when you Google a question and the first and sometimes the only info that comes up is is yours from another posting

Odd - I searched Tineye for a photo I posted on a daily site, and it didn't find it.
