I DID IT!!!
The one thing I didn't do was to unzip it while it was in the sd card.
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP DURING THIS FRUSTRATING TIME.

Thank you I'll clarify a little further.
GreenGuy told him how to get his Card Reader installed.
In my First line I'm telling him, from my experience, to go to the Nikon Site and pick his camera for the correct Firmware.
https://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13783And use Nikon Explicit Instruction to make the install.

Ok..I just didn't want GreenGuy to get more lost than he already is. If a firmware update isn't accomplished properly, it can really screw up the works on his camera.

I'm sure that my photo's will be much better now since the firmware is updated.
I've attached one pic I took last weekend. Hoping to do better this weekend!
EXCELLENT! Glad to hear it! :)
The D7100 is an excellent body, and that Tokina mates well with it!
Enjoy!
Thank you for your clear instructions on updating the camera"s firmware. As a real novice I was able to load the correct firmware using your instructions. Up until the time I read them I was completely lost. Thanks again.
First, you need to click on the zip file and open it to get to the file inside containing the upgrade. This should now be on your desktop. When you formatted the card IN Camera, then plugged it into the card reader on your computer it should have appeared on your desktop too. If not, see if it is in your downloads folder and move it to your desktop. Once the Memory card appears on your desktop, double click on it to open it, then drag the unzipped file you downloaded to it. Close the memory card, and while it is highlighted, EJECT It. Then put it in your Camera, go to the download firmware location in your MENU and follow the instructions to download the firmware. Caution- either have a Freshly charged battery in the camera, or connect the camera with an AC adaptor cord(accessory) when doing this. Do not shut off or change anything while the Firmware is downloading and writing to the camera.
